“It’s not easy dying slowly,” Duane says softly, “but there is peace in each day.”
At 72 years old, Duane is living with Parkinson’s Disease. Even though his body is failing, his mind and spirit are strong. And despite his physical limitations, he feels surrounded by support—thanks to the compassionate care provided by Centrica Care Navigators.
People like Duane rely on your support to fuel Centrica Care Navigators’ mission. Because of you, Duane’s care is centered around the things he loves: music, family, and his faith.
Looking back at his life, Duane reflects on all the memories he made, the lessons he learned, and the challenges he has overcome. Through it all, music has given him a voice. “I knew music before I knew how to read and write,” Duane shares. In his original blues-style songs, he shares the stories of his life and the prayers on his heart through inspiring lyrics and somber melodies, taking listeners through his journey of heartbreak, healing, and hope.
When Duane began receiving in-home hospice care from Centrica Care Navigators, his care team made his dignity and comfort a priority from the start: nurses easing his pain, aides helping him stay comfortable, a spiritual care advisor who offers spiritual support, a volunteer who offers a listening ear, and a music therapist who plays Duane’s favorite blues songs. He even plays his harmonica along with the music therapist, letting each note fill the room and tell the story of his life.
